OMG, this is too easy!
MY SON!

Would rather not post his name publicly, at least here, but here's a brief bio:
He started skiing at age 3, if not necessarily by choice

While he was certainly competent (and did some league racing), it just somehow never quite tripped his trigger, if you KWIM?
Enter snowboards, which he pleaded and begged with the 'rents to rent (ha!) - "PULEEEEEEZZZZZ, MOM?" Yeah, okay, whatever.
A year later, his own board. The journey begins.
He got good. Fast. Way faster, and with far more enthusiasm than for skiing.
Started instructor training at nearing age 16 (earliest allowable work age).
Got ski school award for most lessons taught for snowboard in '97-98 season.
Attained Level 1 AASI certification in 1/99.
Attained Level 2 AASI certification in 3/01.
Started freestyle in earnest in winter of 01-02, at the somewhat late age of 19.
Attained Level 3 AASI certification in 4/04.
Competed in USASA and USSA.
Seriously sidelined by back-to-back ACL ruptures in 06-07, he now is focused on web-based promotion of the sports and public relations.
If asked, I'm sure he would cite Mark Frank Montoya, Travis Rice, Todd Richards (all of whom he knows and has ridden with) as his top riders. And this coming summer, he returns to South America and will be riding with Terje Haakonsen of Norway, who just until recently, held the world record for air out of a quarter pipe, and is an unbelievable extreme rider.
No, I don't think you'll ever "see" his name "in lights." But I have not yet met anyone more passionate or dedicated to this sport.
He is the living embodiment of the famous Zig Zigler saying,
"Love what you do. Do what you love."
And he's my son!
