Default Should beer labels have Nutritional Info

So what do you think? Some beers are labeled with at least their carb and caloric content but many are not. Should they be?

I definitely think so! Why do these not fall under the same same restrictions that the FDA requires of other food/beverages?

Yes. But I believe that of any food or drink item. There is a lot out there that doesn't. If I buy the big bags of chicken breasts from Costco, then the nutrional info is there...but if I buy "a"chicken breast from a smaller grocery store, it doesn't. I also believe that any restaurant should be able to provide that info if the patron requests.

But, I'm a big label reader. I've had high cholesterol since I was 19yo and since then have always read labels to make sure the fate content was where I needed it to be (
I think that in this age of western civilization obesity, it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Oh...now back to beer. I love beer. And I am pretty picky about the beer I drink. The nutrition info posted on a beer would not change my mind about which I prefer to drink. But, at least then, I could keep track of my calories better!

See I love beer too - well I love selective beers to be more accurate!

I was just looking at the bottles from the 6 pack of Seadog Bluepaw (blueberry beer) that I just got and no info.

CalorieKing.com is your friend, that being said I mark a beer as 2-3 WW points and call it done. I know I'm not dead on but part of me doesn't want to know.

I don't why they shouldn't have at least carb info. OTOH, when in Maine, the answer always seems to be...TAX IT. We are about to have instituted yet another tax in this state: on beer, wine AND soda.....hmmmm....some buying trips to NH in our future.....

Aside: when was it that wine had to include labeling as to whether or not it contained nitrites?

I think everything we put into our bodies should have nutritional labels. Even medication....not necessarily nutritional levels, but how is the medication metabolized. I think that it really important in order to help us take care of our bodies...and our health!

I'm a label reader too. I hate the new nutrional labels. I thought there was more comprehensive nutrition info on the old labels compared to now. Now I read labels for ingredients. Some ingredients are on a "not to buy" list for me because they just aren't good to consume. Too much math in adding up caloric intake for the day for me so I don't. Ever.

NVG-metabolism rating of meds is not really possible for true accuracy. Individual metabolism is vastly different when it comes to medication (probably everything consumed). Example - germs & antibiotics- a germ can show resistant to an antibiotic on the standard lab test measures. But can be completely wiped out by the same antibiotic it was supposedly resistant to. The explanation is in the individual's metabolism of the antibiotic. Different for everyone. For individuals , Lab tests are the most accurate measure of dosage & efficacy.
