You crack me up!

OK..here's the story. I woke up Sunday morning with my right knee bothering me. Now, this is the one that has sustained sports injuries (soccer and ice skating) when I was I teenager. So, I have chronic achiness, but, I have not acutely injured it since.

Defintiely and anterior ligament...I could palpate the area that was nagging. Did not bother me to walk, except for up and down the stairs. Did not bother me at the gym with my strength training workout...did bother me on the elliptical. And of course, I should've listened to the wise words of MSL and rested it! At least I didn't hike yesterday like I was supposed to.

I tried ice, heat, ibuprofen, knee brace, tiger balm to no success. Again, would only really bother me using the stairs.

Today though, I was able to go UP the stairs with little bother...going down still nagging.

We'll see. Whatever acute thing happened is slowly starting to go away.

There the story is!!! If anyone has any other words of wisdom, please share!

Aw man, a shot at giving advice or diagnosis to a med pro ? Too good to resist. A bit of a strain I'd say, the body's own warning system to lay off a bit until it settles down before something bad happens. Okay - just follow MSL & Nevebelle's advice, as well as your own & you should be good !

Much sympathy and ((hugs)), from someone who seemingly annually has to deal with the knees in one incarnation or other. Darn things start to wear out...

Okay, up the stairs is better. That's a sign. You really need to take a minimum of a week off to let this settle (dang). And do keep that Chopat brace in mind - it's not a brace as much as it is an alignment support. Widely available online, just google. We got ours (have 2) at footsmart.com.

We need to keep the knee thread going and help each other out. Last winter, I got picked off (while STOPPED, top of run waiting for clearance, doing zip!), and I did a slow sideways fall, not enough force/torque to release both bindings (one did). Oh, that was a stretch. Yeah.....2 grade-2 LCL sprains - also left outside calf, ow. Really thought my season was finished (late Feb). I was in a FULL immobilizer, hip to ankle, on the left leg with the 2 sprains, supposedly for 3 weeks, ha - I lasted one, but that was apparently enough "rest" to get it going. Some PT, and I was good to go. Had a FABULOUS mid to late season last year, mid-March to early May

Are you doing any leg raises that don't involve the knee? Will keep the quad muscles right around the knee strong. Weight your ankle once you can hack it. Do sets.

So, anyway, after a good week of my knee bothering me, it stopped bothering me as instaneously as it had started.

I did stay away from doing any of the cardio machines at the gym during that time and didnt' hike. So, technically I did rest it.

Thanks for all the concern and good advice!
