Oh MAN!!!!! Ok.... do you ladies and gents need some hints??????

You will kick yourself when you find out who this is! A VERY famous female skier (and an inspiration). She dated Buddy Werner (from Steamboat Springs) and later was engaged to D i c k "Mad Dog" Buek prior to his un-fortunate and un-expected death. This picture was taken the same week (and in the same year that the Olympics where she would surely reign supreme in the Slalom events for 1956), that a life-altering fall in Alta changed her life forever.

She is an accomplished artist and won my heart, not just with her skiing, but with her ability to come back from difficulties. She has also been a special education teacher (another thing we have in common). Her art is inspirational!

Ok....BIGGGGGGGG Hint:

A movie (and a sequel) were made about her life.

Jeremy Bloom..I really hope he tries out for the Olympics again. For the people that don't live in Colorado, he actually is much more than a skier/football player/model. He is involved in all sorts of different non-profits including one he named after his (still alive) grandmother that grants "wishes" to seniors of low income.

Spider Sabich & Claudine Longet?

Spider Sabich skied a pro race at Mount Snow when I was a kid. That was exciting! I got his autograph. He was cool.

It is a shame what happened to him. Dominick Dunne's show, Power, Privilege & Justice, does an episode on it.

Spider's girlfriend, Claudine Longet, (who had been married to Andy Williams), shot him, and he died. He had recently broken up with her and had asked her to move out. He was 30 years old.

Claudine claimed it was an accident. There was a trial in Aspen but it was a mockery. She ended up serving only 30 days.

The tv episode about this is "The Starlet and the Skier". Hopefully they'll rerun it sometime on PP&J. It was interesting.

Here's the Next One! Hint: We saw him in the lift line in Vail! (We think...he was wearing a jumpsuit with his name on the back, and while it's been a while since I have seen him, after googling him and seeing him as he looks today, I'm pretty sure now that it was him! )

(And the absolute singular reason why DH took up skiing!! Killy is NOT a big man, quite tiny in fact - as was/is DH -- so he said, "I can do this, TOO!" He started skiing right after the Olympics!!)

p.s. Give me a day to get another guess-photo up. Have to get busy w/other stuff today. I'll do it! Unless someone else has one at the ready/handy? If so, go for it!
